The project proposal was to update the building’s services while maintaining the character and charm of the original structure. Many of the building’s features and original materials were retained and replicated in order to ensure the hotel did not lose its charm during the renovation process. Due to the nature of the listed buildings and their surroundings, close collaboration with the Architects, Client, local Planning Offices, Conservation Officer and Natural England to ensure all works were undertaken in-line with the stringent rules surrounding working on a protected structure such as this.

Works included a complete refit of the venue, with the installation of new floors, new ceilings, modern water and heating systems and electrical system. Almost all of the property’s timber floors have been replaced and a new kitchen has been installed. Tekne manufactured all the bespoke joinery. The Tekne team produced the fixed furniture for the bedrooms and public areas including the bars, wardrobes and wall paneling.
